On March 8th 2018, the world is celebrating International Women’s day. Knowing that women around the world aren’t equally threat by others and often get harassment from many sides, we as a right human being can’t just stand still and do nothing. Many events were held to celebrate this day to raise the voice for women’s right.
“Achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls is the unfinished business of our time, and the greatest human rights challenge in our world.”
— UN Secretary-General, António Guterres
In order to support an effective implementation of Sustainable Developmental Goals, especially goal number 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls; and number 4: Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning, CIMSA held an air campaign to support women’s rights and many locals held their own celebration event to support the women’s right.
On this occasion, CIMSA FK Universitas Padjadjaran held a celebration campaign. Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace (SCORP) and Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health including HIV/AIDS (SCORA) worked together to celebrate International Women’s Day. The members educate people around Universitas Padjadjaran about Rape Culture. Before that, the members got an upgrading about sexual and reproductive health rights and rape culture which was new things to them.
The members were very excited to give education to people. We got IWD’s banner and infographic poster hoping that it will make the education easier to be explained. Besides people around Unpad, we went to the student’s dormitory and educate them too. One of the target started to tell us about her experiences about rape culture. After the education, people were very exciting to join our campaign by signing our banner. We hope people will get more information about rape culture in Indonesia, know what was needed to be done and spread the news to others. The members of CIMSA FK Unpad have learned about new things with this activity.
